Salary Range: $62,000-$65,000 annually

The office is within walking distance of shopping, dining and special events with free parking and shuttle transportation from the CTA Blue Line. While we will continue to offer a flexible work schedule, we are only considering candidates who are enthusiastic about being in the office to collaborate with their colleagues three days per week.


Position Overview:
The successful candidate is a skilled accountant with a curious nature and excellent communications skills. They are detail-oriented, work efficiently, and have experience performing a wide array of accounting tasks. In this role, the accountant will have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively.


Job Responsibilities:


Invoicing & General Accounting Responsibilities
  • Lead client invoicing process from start to finish to ensure accurate and timely billing
  • Manage vendor payments monthly
  • Record incoming receivables and escalate outstanding client invoices to the appropriate project manager for resolution
  • Provide project managers monthly updates for each project budget
  • Provide support to Controller in the preparation of periodic financial statements and annual report
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government requirements

Timesheets and Payroll
  • Process payroll bimonthly in QuickBooks Payroll
  • Process and reconcile freelancer payments monthly using QuickBooks Payroll and BigTime time keeping
  • Update payroll records accordingly when employees are onboarded, offboarded, submit a change request and/or when a job title changes, deduction amounts change.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer any employee payroll queries
  • Maintain all payroll operations according to company policies and procedure

Job Requirements:
 
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, critical thinking skills, project management capabilities, and effective time management to support simultaneous projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred, not required
  • Experience with QuickBooks online and BigTime software is preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years’ experience with functions of invoicing, payroll and general AP/AR 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong and professional communication; verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and a can-do attitude
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Experience in the engineering, architectural and professional services preferred
  • Knowledge of Illinois’ cost estimate consultant services (CECS) process preferred
  • Positive attitude, organized, team player willing to support the team’s overall effort
